What you'll get
You’ll get so much more than a qualification with Basecamp. In addition to everything below, you’ll also get unforgettable memories – you can’t put a price tag on that!
The best tuition
Upon completion of your Basecamp course, you’ll get your Alpine Level 1 and 2 BASI ski instructor qualifications.
Our partnerships with the British Alpine Ski School (BASS) and the British Association of Snowsports Instructors (BASI) means this is one of the leading ski instructor courses on the planet. As the original British ski school, BASS has been around since 1999 and boasts members of the BASI interski team and BASI national education team as trainers. Impressive, right?
You can trust that our instructors are qualified to the highest level possible because of France’s strict qualification requirements. They’re required to hold BASI Level 4 ISTD qualifications, which means they truly are some of the best instructors on the planet.
You’ll train 4 days per week giving you the chance to explore the area on your weekends. Plus, you’ll get to sample the incredible nightlife – something we know is a big draw!
The resort life
For our courses, we scour the areas to find only the best accommodation for you.
In Morzine we get to cherry-pick from some of the best suited chalets, mountain apartments and chalet hotels for your stay. Whilst we work with a variety of accommodation providers each winter you can be sure that for the duration of your course you will be centrally located providing ease of access too all that Morzine has to offer, allowing you to live the perfect resort lifestyle.
The last thing you want on your trip of a lifetime is to worry about cooking all your meals. That’s why you’ll be pleased to know you’ll get half-board here, which equals five evening meals a week and a daily continental breakfast on offer. We recommend taking advantage of the sociable bar and authentic restaurant as well as some of the hotels partnered bars and restaurants for further discounts.
This is a true home from home chalet experience with everything you could possibly need to make your stay as comfortable and exciting as possible for the 11-weeks. With a huge social space to be able to kick back and relax as well as great spots to chill out and relax in, including a conversation pit with log fire, this is somewhere you can really make your own for the season.
The good stuff...the nightlife
Now that you know all about the training on offer at our Morzine-Avoriaz resort and what you can expect from the accommodation, we’ll get to the good stuff – the extra-curricular activities and the nightlife.
If you’re a seasoned partyer, you’ll love Morzine-Avoriaz because it’s renowned as one of the most lively resorts in the entirety of France and the Alps. It would take us quite a while to get through all the incredible bars, restaurants, and clubs on offer! You’ll have plenty of time to explore – and you’ll find your favourite hangout spots in no time.
But we haven’t even got to the best bit yet – Avoriaz is home to the out-of-this-world Rock the Pistes and Snowboxx festivals, and they’ll be on during your course. Welcoming world-renowned DJs and unforgettable parties, you can sign off your trip in style. By the way – you’ll get a Snowboxx wristband as part of your course. Enjoy!
“Basecamp provided the most amazing experience this year. I have made so many lifelong friends and my snowboarding has improved ridiculously when I compare to the beginning of the season. The coaching we received was world class and I am so excited to begin instructing! I would recommend Basecamp to anyone wanting to become an international instructor, improve their riding, or looking for a challenging, exciting and awesome gap year adventure! Thank you so much Basecamp!”
“An awesome way to gain a qualification and skills on a gap year/career break! I qualified as an instructor, had 11-weeks of top notch training, lived in one of the most beautiful countries in the world and had three months of insane fun with a great bunch of people. This course is one of, if not the, best experiences of my life.
I can’t recommend this course enough to anyone looking for a worthwhile way to spend their gap year or for someone who wants to get away from the grind of their job on a career break.”
“Basecamp was an unreal experience. A fantastic training program which sent me on my way to a new career. Awesome training throughout the season, which lead to huge improvement on my technical and teaching within skiing. Personal highlight – heli-skiing with the instructors at the end of the program.”
“Best experience of my life!
The 11 week snowboard program with basecamp was definitely the best decision, we had great instructors who really knew what they were talking about. I have grown very much as a person and as a snowboarder the basecamp course really helped me with that!”
