Winter XGames Tignes Starts Today
Let us explain why…
The Winter XGames kicks off today in what is basically Basecamp Val d'Isere's backyard. Tignes is just a short bubble hop over the ridge and an area that our Basecampers will know like the back of their hand by now.
Visiting Tignes to watch the XGames LIVE comes with more than just a twist…
“…add in a mountain full of spins, flips, flares and sliders and prepare yourself for some mind blowing action!!!”
Having travelled across 5 resorts in Canada this month, there is still no where we would collectively rather ride than Tignes, whether it is the pisted runs accessed by the awesome Funiculaire Grande Motte or the adrenalin pushing shoots underneath mickeys ears we all absolutely love heading over the mountain for some snowbarding and skiing in Tignes.
Tignes and Val d'Isere make up the Espace Killy region and to put it bluntly, this region blows most other mountain regions off the the preverbial world piste map…we digress.
Today and for the rest of this week and into the weekend, the winter Xgames returns to Tignes for a week of mind blowing action. If you are unluckily not in the mountains you can tune into all the action via the ESPN coverage found via the officical Winter XGames Website
To explain the earlier outburst of severe jealousy, Tom and this year's Basecamp crew will be heading over to Tignes on Friday to watch the action live. Literaaly right there, LIVE. Tom has organised this amazing trip to take place straight after they finish their BASI level 2 exams, so just about the best way to celebrate what has been 10 weeks of intensive ski and snowboard instructor training.
Watching the super pipe and slopestyle on a screen is one thing (I recommend it), but being there watching it live is a whole new ball game, it is literally jaw droppingly amazingly inspiringly lifechangingly excellently Too Cool with a capital “T and C”
For now, subscibe to the ESPN channel, fix a seat belt to your chair and enjoy.
More from Tom and the crew as they will be reporting live from Tignes.
We are so happy for them…
