Banff 2014, Week 2 Update
On snow we have been having an amazing blast of spring weather during what is typically our coldest month of the season. It’s not uncommon for temperatures to hit -30 in January but we have not seen anything remotely close this year and there is no cold temperatures in the forecast. Most of the days this week we had clear blue skies and temperatures hovering right around freezing. All this warm weather makes it very easy to finish up a good day of skiing at Lake Louise’s famous Kokanee Kabin or the new Ice bar at Whitehorn lodge halfway up the mountain.
The focus for the training this week was refining everyones technical skills in preparation for the level 1 exam at the start of February. The exams are broken into two section, skiing/riding and teaching. According to the trainers everyone has been putting a solid effort in and we have a really good group this season. A lot of time has been spent using different terrain as a teaching tool, getting as much out of the 4200 acres of terrain as possible.
Despite another full on week on the slopes everyone has been making the most of the nightlife in the town of Banff. This week we had something for everyone’s tastes from Bull riding to Bingo, Mountain film night to wild nights at the Hoodoo. This town has all bases covered.
