BASI Level 2 Exam
Course Features
The exam starts from £565, however, extras such as accommodation, ski passes, transfers and food can be added if necessary.
BASI Level 1:
Qualifies you to teach novice and early intermediates in a non-mountain environment, ie. the UK on artificial and indoor slopes. For plenty of people this is all you will need in terms of a qualification that you will use, for others it's just a one of the required stepping stones enroute to level 2 and beyond.
BASI Level 2
For instructors that wish to work in the mountains on a part time or peak seasonal basis. BASI level 2 skiers have a competent knowledge, ability and understanding to safely teach alpine skiing up to and including parallel standard on marked pistes.
Who is this exam best suited to?
Those that have passed the level 1 and are looking to progress the BASI ladder with the aim of finding work as a ski instructor in the mountains, and perhaps, looking to begin Level 3.
How good do you need to be a snowboarding before the course?
We reccomend that you are a confident snowboarder on red and balck runs. You should also be able to snowboard mogules and varaibles in a controlled manner. Sliding and edge turns on reds are a necessity.
Is the exam hard to pass?
The Basecamp pass rate for level 2 is 90%. The Level 2 is a big step up from the level 1 so we encourage you to turn up feeling confident and well prepared. The exam is two weeks long so a lot of concentration and focus is required in order for one to pass. Listen to your trainer, take notes, swot the manuals and you should be fine!
How do I get my BASI Licence?
Before signing onto the exam with Basecamp, you will need to make sure you have 70 hours of shadowing signed off and approved by BASI. Basecamp provide you with the Level 2 exam. If you haven't already done so from level 1, you will need to organise a first aid course, a CRB check and complete the safeguarding childrens module on the BASI website.
