Over 200 guests including Basecamp's Linley Lewis enjoyed a fantastic fundraising evening in aid of Snow-Camp’s work this week, hosted by BBC Presenter, Olympic Skier and Snow-Camp Patron Graham Bell and held on the stunning roof terrace suite overlooking the City at Norton Rose.

The annual City Drinks and Summer Auction event, which has been growing year on year since it was first launched in 2009, brought together a diverse group of city firms, snowsports companies and Snow-Camp supporters, who enjoyed great views, drinks and canapés on the terrace overlooking Tower Bridge and the South Bank.

The evening kicked off with Graham Bell giving a moving address about his support for Snow-Camp and the need for the charities work within the world of snowsports. He encouraged attendees to give generously through the raffle and auction which made up the key fundraising elements of the evening.

Snow-Camp Director, Dan Charlish, presented a short summary of the work and goals of the charity and its growth over the past 10 years, before thanking the many sponsors and supporters who had made the event possible. A short film showing Snow-Camp’s work was also shown, featuring inspiring clips from Snow-Camp Patrons Chemmy Alcott, Ed Leigh and Warren Smith.  The film also featured Snow-Camp young people who had progressed from beginners to instructors with the charity, and introduced Snow-Camp’s new Snowsports Apprenticeships Programme. Many of the young people in the film were present at the evening to talk to guests about how the charity had helped them.

The evening was attended by a diverse range of representatives from across the UK snowsports industry, including British Alpine Skier Ed Drake alongside Emily Sarsfield, who are both Snow-Camp supporters.

The auction itself was a huge success, with auctioneer Martin Pope kindly volunteering his services, and doing a fabulous job entertaining the crowd and auctioning off over 15 items donated by generous sponsors; including a comical addition from Snow-Camp Trustee Alan Grant who generously donated a collection of retro ski jackets worn by his Alpine Challenge team which sold for an astonishing £1,000 to high bidder Ian Finlay!

Snow-Camps 10 Year Anniversary Ball in October and the 2014 Alpine Challenge were also promoted on the night, with teams signing up to compete in the hugely enjoyable but endurance based 2 day challenge to be held in Portes du Soleil in January 2014. With a target of 150km of GPS tracked skiing or snowboarding, 15 resorts in 2 days and the infamous mountain night hike – the 2014 event looks set to be the best yet and Snow-Camp is looking to sign up 25 teams to participate!
