March has finally arrived and it’s living up to its reputation of being the snowiest month here in Lake Louise. March 1st saw a good 20 cm dump hit the resort and the snow did not stop for 4 days! By the time the storm cycle was over we had received about 60 cm of light champagne powder, which meant face shots for everyone and there is even more snow in the forecast for later this week.
The training for the level 2 last week involved lots more skiing so the snow was perfectly timed for the groups to have a blast, as everyone’s skiing gets up to standard the trainers will start to focus more on the teaching side of things.
Last Friday we did an avalanche awareness-training day with the avalanche control team. That team is responsible for getting all of our steeper terrain safe and opened to the public. The team is made up of the most experienced/certified members of the ski patrol so we were very lucky to get some time on snow with them.
Each year the ski school and the guys from soul ski and bike in town put on a themed party at one of the clubs in town, the Blue Ball. Everyone got their best blue costumes out and had a good chance to cut loose with all their trainers and the rest of the snow school instructors.
Sunday night the groups made the trip to Calgary to check out an NHL hockey game. Two Canadian teams were playing, the Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks, so the crowd was really fired up and of course our guys got right into the mix.

Have a look at this weeks video for a full recap of all the happenings here in Banff/Lake Louise.
