Snow withdrawl symptoms at the Tour de France

It seems that this years Tour De France participants are involved in one of the bloodiest(!) bike races of recent memory, highlighted by this crash (i've spared you the resulting images, they are pretty grim!). But was this crash caused by a driver who's reached the limit and just looking to get his fill of speed and adrenaline provided by the mountains?

Everyone off the roads and onto the slopes…only a couple of months to go! It can only come soon enough
